Dear Loc:

Thank you for letting me interviewing you. I really appreciated you spending your time to help me with my communication project. I learned many things about architecture from your information.

I was really interested in how you define what an architect does.  An architect is one who invents, designs building and finally translates the use requirements into a built environment.  Before I only thought of an architect is the ones who only designs buildings but never thought there are much more things that an architect does. And I was quite shocked when founding out that an architect never says that he makes a lot of money. It just sounds funny to me.

Once again, I would like to thank you for all the precious information and tips that you showed me in the architecture field. After this interview I feel great and excited that I’m actually going to be an architect and will try my hardest to be one.

Sincerely,

Phuong Dang

Memo

Date: March 12, 2012

To: Mr. Loc

From: Phuong Dang

Subject: Information-Gathering Interview

1/The purpose of this memo is about me expecting what my major in my head before the interview and what do I think about it after I have done the interview. Or what have I learnt from the interview. Will I change my major or follow it to the end.

2/Education:  About education architect does take a lot of time to study and mastered. Studying architect requires me to be active, creative, and careful. Also if I want to work in the U.S I must have a master degree in architect in order to work. And study architect will make me stay on campus most of the time.

3/Working Schedule: an architect will never have enough time to sleep. They can choose to work home or at an office in a company, can be self- employed. Work is a lot so they often don’t have much time. But because sometimes they can stay at home so they can still take care of their family. Like a normal person would.

4/Facts about the business: an architect will never say that’s he’s rich. But if he knows how to catch opportunities then money will come and if he does good work then his name will be recognized to many business so that will generates money.

5/a/ The information I’ve learnt have help me have a more clearer definition of what architecture is, what does it do and what do I need to do to be an architect. I really like creative work and freedom of creative so It is really nice to be an architecture plus I love buildings.

b/ I have learnt that preparing for an interview is a must because you just can’t interview people when you’re unprepared and I must be patient and relaxed more to make the whole interview more smooth.

6/ In conclusion from doing this memo I have realized or have a better understanding of what architect is from the interview from the aspect of education, working schedule and facts about business. And this memo certainly helped me to know that should I choose to do architecture which I will.
